The driver in a suspected drunken driving crash that left two dead was released from the hospital and taken into custody Thursday, according to authorities.
Maison King, a 25-year-old from Oakland, Nebraska, was booked into Douglas County Corrections for two counts of motor vehicle homicide and driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury in connection with the crash early Saturday on Interstate 80 westbound near 24th Street.
Omaha police responded to the crash around 1:40 a.m., The World-Herald previously reported.
According to investigators, a Ford Fusion traveling westbound on I-80 was hit nearly head-on by a Kia Sportage driven by King traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes, according to the Omaha Police Department.

The driver of the Ford, who was an Uber driver, and two passengers were taken to the Nebraska Medical Center, the release said.
The driver, 30-year-old Kyle Arnold of Omaha, was declared dead shortly after arriving at the hospital, according to the release. The other rear passenger, 24-year-old Jessica Mutchler of Shenandoah, Iowa, was taken into surgery with life-threatening injuries. The front-seat passenger, 29-year-old Cole Lambrecht of Kearney, was treated for minor injures.
King had been receiving treatment for a fractured back, police said.
In a police affidavit, King was found on his back outside the Kia complaining of back pain. King stated he was following Google Maps to his friend's house and admitted he was the driver of the Kia.
King also admitted he had been drinking and smelled of alcohol, the affidavit said.
