County Bertha Mae Lawson 62 of Mariba was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple head injuries by Menifee County Coroner Gene Heizer The driver of the car Billie Jo Johnson 32 of Mariba Mrs daughter was in serious condition at Mary Chiles Hospital in Winchester Another passenger Willie Gene Hale 18 also of Mariba was treated and released The accident occurred at 10:50 am about two miles east of French-burg on US 480 State police at Morehead said the Johnson vehicle apparently left the right side of the road in an attempt to avoid another vehicle which was preparing to turn It came back on the road then went off the left side the headon collision occurred when it got back on the road again police said The driver of the truck Johnny Maynard 29 of Frenchburg was not injured None of the people involved in the accident was wearing seat belts In addition to her daughter Mrs Lawson is survived by three other daughters Alice Ellis of Franklin' Ohio Wanda Hale of Mariba and Ruby Johnson
