From my experience, sushi is one of those polarizing foods. You either love it, or you aren’t a fan of it. I’m one of those people who love it. It can be a great snack or a whole meal, especially paired with some stir fried vegetables.

Roasted Garlic Butter Carrots Recipe

By Wendy

Is there anything better than garlic butter? OK, so I can think of a few things (like chocolate), but when it comes to the savory, garlic butter is about as good as it gets. I am willing to eat just about anything with garlic butter involved.

Since I love garlic butter, I thought I’d season my roasted carrots with garlic butter. And let me tell you, they turned out to be so much more amazing than I thought they were going to be. I mean, I thought they’d be good, but these are fantastic. They’re so good that my kids were literally FIGHTING OVER CARROTS. They couldn’t get enough, and neither could I. I promised that the next time I made these that’s I’d double the recipe.

Asian Chicken Lettuce Wrap Bowls Recipe

By Wendy

Lettuce wraps are a great way to enjoy delicious wraps and sandwiches without the calories and carbs of a flour wrap or bread. Unfortunately, you’ll also end up looking kind of like a kid with their first cake. I mean, is there any way to eat them without ending up with the juice EVERYWHERE?

Those adorable little Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps are appetizers, so you’re supposed to just pick them up and pop them in your mouth. But, without fail, I always end up with juice dripping down my chin and all over my hands. Not so ladylike.

However, I recently decided to fix that problem – by making it into a full meal that’s got the same fresh, delicious and wonderful flavors but without the mess while you’re digging in. I made the Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps into a salad bowl. And let me tell you – it’s amazing.

Pomegranate, Apple, and Date Salad Recipe

By Wendy

The holidays are coming up faster than I can believe. It might only be September, but before we know it, it’ll be Thanksgiving and then Christmas! With the holidays coming up so soon, I thought I’d share one of my all-time favorite holiday salad recipes.

This Pomegranate, Apple, and Date Salad is one that I’ve made more times than I can count. It’s perfect for the holidays – beautiful, tasty, and very easy. It’s a perfect complement to many meals.

Me, I love to have this salad during Rosh Hashanah, because it’s full of the symbolic foods of the holiday. Rosh Hashanah is celebrated in the fall each year and there are always delicious and traditional foods. Many of the dishes include symbolic foods – apples (particularly apples dipped in honey), dates, pomegranates, black-eyed peas, leek, spinach, and gourds.

Roasted Honey Soy-Glazed Chicken Recipe

By Wendy

Right now, I’m making our Rosh Hashanah dinner. It’s a Jewish New Year that occurs every fall, usually in September or October. Traditionally, there is a large dinner with all your family and you spend most of the day cooking dinner. Since I don’t usually like to spend all day in the kitchen cooking dinner, and I’m all about the quick and easy meals, I found a way to whip up a delicious Rosh Hashanah recipe, with minimal effort.

Quick and easy meals is where this Roasted Honey Soy-Glazed Chicken recipe comes into its own. It is incredibly easy, with just a handful of ingredients, but it is more than just a simple mouthful of flavors! It’s a little sweet, a little salty and a little smoky…it really doesn’t get better than this. Well, except that it’s that good and I don’t spend all day cooking it!

Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes Recipe

By Wendy

Everyone has the meals that they remember having a lot when they grew up. Maybe it’s pancakes for breakfast every Saturday morning.

For me, it was Sloppy Joe’s. They were a regular staple in our house. It was easy and relatively inexpensive, so we had them a LOT. I sometimes still make them for my kids, and they love them too. And I still enjoy one every now and then.

However, I recently decided to try out a new idea I’ve seen a few times. You combine a Philly Cheesesteak and a Sloppy Joe. It’s an amazing idea and I’m totally surprised it’s not a huge trend yet. Believe me, it should be. The result was delicious and a widely successful new recipe in our house.

Chickpea and Sumac Salad Recipe

By Wendy

I grew up in Pennsylvania and then moved to Southern California, which is where I live now. One of the best things that I’ve discovered since moving to Los Angeles is the incredible food!

Once I moved here, I learned about a whole new world of foods and flavors that I never knew existed. I can honestly say, I’ve never been happier.

I’ve got plenty of favorite flavors and recipes (who doesn’t?), but Middle Eastern foods are ones that I almost always just fall in love with.

Recently, I got to eat at a Turkish restaurant and I had an incredible salad that I just had to try to make once I got home. It’s the super simple, but incredible flavorful and delicious Chickpea and Sumac Salad.

Avocado Toast Recipe

By Wendy

You know me, I tend to be annoyed by the super trendy things and really avoid jumping on the food trend bandwagon. There are a couple of exceptions to that – if it happens to be seriously amazing (have you tried the new Instant Pot?), or if I’ve already been enjoying it for a long time.

This one falls into the second category. I have been eating and thoroughly enjoying avocado toast for a long time – way before it was a trendy food thing.

Mexican Beef and Zucchini Skillet Recipe

By Wendy

It can be hard to convince my family, especially the kids, that low carb recipes are still tasty. Usually, it’s easier if they don’t know that it’s low carb and super healthy before they try it. They’re more likely to eat it that way. And this one is definitely a low carb Weight Watchers recipe that is amazingly good – and a big hit with my family.

I recently had a few extra zucchini that I wanted to use up before they went bad, so I put together this Mexican Beef and Zucchini Skillet. It turned out to be a quick, easy and healthy dinner that was incredibly delicious.

Crab Cake Waffles Recipe

By Wendy

Have you noticed the waffled food trend that’s been happening on Instagram recently? Apparently, it’s easy and quick to cool a whole variety of foods in a waffle iron, not just batter. I thought that was a great idea. I wanted to give it a try with some of the foods that aren’t very healthy due to the fact they’re fried in oil. The first one that I really wanted to try was crab cakes.

Traditional crab cakes aren’t all that healthy for you. They’re loaded with crab, cracker crumbs, mayonnaise and eggs and then deep fried in oil. Delicious, yes, but not a great combination for watching your daily point totals.
